Favorite exercise routine: Working out with my husband six days a week, lifting and cardio.
Major exercise accomplishment: I create new goals and strive to reach them. Losing 25 pounds a few years ago was a huge accomplishment for me.
Proudest exercise moment: I’m proud that I still am at the gym six days a week for at least an hour a day with only eight weeks to go in my pregnancy.
Significant health improvement: I quit smoking when I started working out — a few attempts on the treadmill and I knew I had to pick one or the other. It was a no-brainer and I have felt like a million bucks ever since.
Why I exercise: the health benefits are endless, but exercising makes me feel good emotionally as well. I’ve also heard that exercising through pregnancy can really help during labor so I’m hoping that’s true, too!
How working out makes me feel: gives me energy and makes me feel good about myself. I think twice before ordering dessert because I will have to burn those extra calories.
Exercising regularly since: I was 22.
How I find the time: I make the time. I either go before or after work.
What motivates me to move: if I’m feeling lazy my husband/workout partner gets me moving. we care about one another, our health, our (soon to be here) baby, and our bodies so we know exercise is important for us as a family.
What keeps me going: my health, and my gym’s 12-Times-A-Month Club. seems silly but it really is a great motivator.
Favorite gym: I go to 24/7 Fitness, the West End one, sometimes Allentown; it’s a relaxed, comfortable workout environment.
Favorite exercise video: ”Buns of Steel,” the original one from 20 years ago.
Role model: my dad. my father is 65 years old and still works out every day.
Favorite equipment: Lifting bench.
Special strategies to keep me moving: at the gym, I see people who are in their 60s, 70s or 80s working out almost every day.
Most helpful tip: Don’t try to look cool at the gym … I often see people with more weight than they can handle.
Favorite workout song: ”Hollywood Undead,” little-known song, one of my faves!
What I eat: oatmeal; an egg white and cheese sandwich on whole grain with fruit for lunch, grilled fish with veggies and rice for dinner. Snacks are fruit, veggies or yogurt.
